Parent Involvement:

Parents are encouraged to participate regularly in Center events, activities, and planning processes. All parents are welcome to attend monthly Board meetings and parents are encouraged to get involved in the planning of the Center’s programs by joining the Board of Directors and/or attending Board meetings. Parents are encouraged to spend time in their children’s classrooms and to participate in special activities. Parents are invited to visit as special guests to share information with the children on themes in our learning modules. Parents are always welcome to join us on field trips. We highly appreciate parent involvement in Center wide projects i.e., spreading mulch on the playground, cleaning up gardens, participating in annual cleanup days, etc.

The Center is a non-profit organization that relies heavily on fundraising to buy supplies and classroom equipment.  It is policy at the Center that all parents help plan, and participate in Center fundraising events.  When all the parents participate and support each event, profit is maximized, funding goals are reached, and the number of fundraisers is kept to a minimum.  There are many ways to become involved in the fundraisers. An annual parent participation in fundraisers policy note will be sent home to each family in April, which includes requirements for each family, as well as descriptions of each fundraising event.

Every year there are special cleanup activities in addition to the normal cleanup routinely done by the staff.  These cleanup days are vital to ensure the health and safety standards necessary for the welfare of our students.  In order to avoid possible interruption of service because of non-compliance with safety standards, all parents and staff with children who attend the Waitsfield Children’s Center are required to participate in the two designated cleanup days per year.

The Center has a participation/volunteer policy of six (6) hours a year, to be assessed twice a year (in June and December).  There will be a $30.00 assessment (each half of the year) for non-participation in this volunteer program.  There are many ways to get volunteer hours: please speak with the Executive Director if you would like to complete volunteer hours.
